Still, Moose, Goose, and qta all gave it a thumbs-down.Roxie Smith Lindemannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06455529922082930949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23938076.post-65104174615070625052008-11-06T07:08:00.000-05:002008-11-06T07:08:00.000-05:00I can't wait for the queen to arrive in our fair c...I can't wait for the queen to arrive in our fair city, but I will have to take her aside and chat about the dress that she wore election night. We've clearly got a long way to go on these issues, and queers can't do it alone. We need friends, allies, and family members to stand up and say, "This is our fight, too."

My typist nearly smashed her pretty new Mac in the office this afternoon when she received a self-congratulatory message from HRC about Obama's victory that didn't say a word about the multiple defeats suffered by LGBT citizens yesterday. Hours later, a separate message came on those issues -- as if securing LGBT civil rights were some kind of afterthought for the nation's wealthiest LGBT advocacy organization. Once again, HRC shows its biases, priorities, and tone-deafness.

Hope to hear from you again, Kenton. I just felt moved to let you know that you aren't the only ones feeling like someone let some of the air out of your party balloons last night. Even though my lifestyle is barely discernible from your run of the mill WASP I can't help but taste the bittersweet pill of equality for *some* that was hammered into place last night.

I'm crossing my fingers that this doesn't turn into the multi-year setback that that "no" on prop 8 crowd have prophesied. I really hope that this eye-opening defeat will serve as a catalyst and energize even more people sympathetic to the cause to roll up their sleeves and help make real progress everywhere, not just in California.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15223089032935732430noreply@blogger.com
